Moss is a green, spongy plant that grows in moist areas. Moss can be found on the roofs of many homes and businesses throughout the country. As moss has grown over time, it has gradually spread to more surfaces than just our roofs. It’s important for you to know how to identify moss growth as well as what steps you can take if your home or business is affected by moss. There are tools we use during professional moss removal, there are also benefits of getting rid of moss from your roof and walls.
Moss removal is the process of removing moss and other plant life from a roof. Moss only grows in areas with high moisture, so if you identify moss on your home or business, there may be an issue with ventilation, such as leaks or gutters, that needs to be addressed first then you will know it is time to call us!
Benefits of moss removal
The benefits of getting rid of moss include reduced costs for energy efficiency, increased safety by reducing fire hazards caused by dry leaves, and improved curb appeal, which can increase property value and attractiveness to potential buyers.
Our Moss Removal Process
We provide both chemical solutions (simple green) and more severe methods (exclusion barriers) depending on the severity of the infestation. When treating roofs, our technicians apply liquid chemical moss treatment to the surface of the roof. Liquid chemical treatments are most effective on roofs with a large area of coverage and can be used in conjunction with exclusion barriers if necessary.

Tools and equipment we use for moss removal
We use professional power washing devices that blast water at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. This ensures thorough but gentle cleaning! Our technicians always wear safety gear, including goggles, masks, boots, gloves, and other protective gear that is warranted against chemicals. They will also cover any plants or animals when spraying them down from off your property. In addition to our professional power washers, we carry a “hydro-jet” pressure washing device that emits high-pressure jets of heated water designed to remove stubborn dirt & stains; a powerful “turbo” pressure washer that emits a large volume of water at high speeds to remove dirt and grime in hard-to-reach outdoor locations; and various types of scrubbing brushes for the removal of moss, lichen, fungi, and algae.
Can I remove the moss myself?
-Yes, but be careful! Moss can contain hazardous materials and other toxins that may not only negatively affect the appearance of your roof surface but also pose a health risk. If you are going to remove moss yourself using chemicals, make sure they are labeled for such use and take appropriate protective measures, including long sleeves and other protective gear that is warranted against chemicals. How do I know if the moss on my roof needs to be removed?
If your roof is leaking, you may have moss growing as a result of the leaks. If there are visible signs of moss on your roof or if it has been determined that the moss issue is contributing to any other problems with your home, like mold growth, then professional removal will be necessary and would need to happen sooner rather than later.
